New Students

How to Enroll

To enroll as a Counseling@NYU student, follow these steps:

1

Fill out and return your intent to enroll documents.

2

Activate your account in Albert , NYU’s student information system.

3

Pay the enrollment deposit within your online application.

4

Complete the financial aid checklist and external financing application, both available in Albert.

Check Your NYU Email Account Regularly
Once you have accepted our offer by paying your tuition deposit, we will activate your NYU email account. Most University offices, including Financial Aid, the Bursar, Housing, and Student Affairs, will communicate with you via your NYU email account exclusively once it is activated, so be sure to check it often.

To access your NYU email account, log into NYUHome then search for the NYU Email card. If you’re using a mobile device or desktop application, review our setup instructions.

If you have questions about enrollment, contact your admissions counselor today.

Welcome and Orientation

After returning your deposit and intent to enroll forms, you will proceed to the next step: welcome and orientation. This process will acclimate you to the online learning environment and introduce you to key program guidelines, including policies and procedures surrounding academic integrity.

Attend Your Program Welcome Session
Your student support adviser will reach out to schedule a time for this session in our online classroom. For approximately 45 minutes to an hour, you will meet other students, learn important program information, test your computer’s capabilities, and ask any questions you may have.

Take the Orientation and Placement Courses in 2NYU
The orientation course in the learning management system (LMS) lets you familiarize yourself with the online platform so you can feel confident starting classes. You will review key information about classes and degree requirements to help you plan your academic journey. In addition, you will learn how to use library resources, including our collection of e-books and journal databases, such as ERIC and PsycINFO. These resources will assist you in identifying current issues in the field and cutting-edge research. The placement course familiarizes you with the placement process for both your practicum and internship. Find them in the top left-hand corner of 2NYU under “Courses.”

Schedule Your Success Call
The call will be a one-on-one conversation with your dedicated student support adviser. You will discuss specific questions about your plan of study, but most importantly, create academic and career goals.

Experience Ongoing Support
From now until you graduate, student support advisers are available to help you with technical questions and other areas in which you may need assistance. You will have access to live technical support during each online class. Contact information for student success advisers can be found on the main student portal page.
