Why We Need School Counselors

School counselors aren’t just in your high schools — they are the unsung heroes of today’s school system, agents of social change.

At its most fundamental level, school counseling programs promote and enhance the learning process for all students — ensuring the academic, career and personal/social development of students from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. The goal of school counselors and their programs is to ensure that today’s students are tomorrow’s learners — turning their classrooms, schools and districts into positive learning environments.

To gain a deeper understanding of school counselors’ multifaceted impact on today’s students, Counseling@NYU has created School Counselors: Key to Student Success – an infographic in support of NYU’s new online master’s in school counseling degree.
