APSY-GE: 2500 Trauma: Theoretical and Clinical Perspectives
This course is a study of the human response to trauma with emphasis on the biologic, psychodynamic, and social consequences. Child sexual abuse, terrorism, rape, war, and disasters are some examples of the traumas considered. The course offers consideration of theories, dilemmas, and clinical perspectives. Specific attention is given to legal issues, reporting, identification, assessment, techniques for interviewing and evidence gathering, non-traumatic and traumatic memory, issues and techniques in treatment, and prevention.
